What does Botox® injection treatment involve?
Several tiny injections with a very fine needle are made around the areas to be treated. The injections are very shallow and are not painful – the most many clients feel is a slight stinging sensation. If you are concerned about the injections hurting we can numb the area to be treated with either an ice-pack or anaesthetic cream.
The treatment takes 5 to 10 minutes and the results are visible after 3 to 5 days. Following treatment you should avoid touching the treated area and strenuous exercise. You should also avoid drinking alcohol for 12 hours directly after treatment – you’ll just have to wait a bit before you go out and have a celebration drink! Follow up treatments are usually required to ‘top-up’ the initial treatment every 3 to 4 months for the first year after which the period between top-ups is usually longer.
